MARCO DE MELZA FURNITURE & ANTIQUES

MARCO DE MELZA COUNTRY FURNITURE & ANTIQUES

Welcome to Marco de Melza. Alongside decorative art, I like to sell from local artists here in the Lake District, Cumbria & friends in Cornwall. A fine collection of furniture both contemporary & antique acquired from travels in the UK & Europe. Odd individual items for your home & garden appear in the lifestyle section.

I only sell items of art & furniture I would be proud to own.

After 30 plus years in hospitality, trading & refurbishing pubs, hotels & restaurants

I decided to give up last year but needed a reason to get up in the morning -- I'd always spent hours sourcing interesting objects online, in shops & markets both at home & abroad -- so why not do just that as a hobby business?

So Marco de Melza was born. I'm not called Marco & I'm certainly not from Melza (I don't even know if there's a place with the name) but based in the not so sleepy village of Cartmel in the English Lake District, spending as much time as possible in the westcountry, especially Devon & Cornwall on the sea, in boats. Indeed, after racing Demelza, a Falmouth Working Boat, drinking several pints of draught Bass in the Seven Stars the name just clicked.

My interest is not in Amazon type trading (horrid) but searching for unique items; predominantly individual decorative artworks, some very inexpensive others costing a little more; odd pieces of furniture (antique & contempory) & unusual lifestyle items.

I'm very happy to consider taking & selling items on commission, but please understand, '' I only sell what I'd be proud to own''
